The Love of Winter

The wind blows
unceasingly
and autumn leaves
fall and keep falling
.

It is amazing how much snow
there is too much cold
everything seems sad,
everything seems alone.

But……

A ray bursts on the horizon
with its burst of light;
and illuminates my face
just a moment ... It´s not warmth….
It´s love.

She is my summer
She is my warmth
Open the door of my heart,
Doesn´t matter how much cold.

100% of the Senses

I’m watching
Many squirrel struggling for the control of the herd, jumping from one tree to another, risking their life for the supremacy of the group.

I’m listening:
The shout of a squirrel that is attacking from the herd, and the sound of the wind of winter.

I smell:
The smell of the grass that is recently mowing at the stadium of softball.
I’m touching:
The silver pencil which I´m writing, and a stick tree that helped me to clean the stone where I am sitting.

I’m thinking:
How can I use the information that I am collecting?
Are the squirrels trying to hit a squirrel that belong to a different group and overcome their lands.
Why the gardener is mowing the grass in the field of softball if the grass is not so long.
I heat winter.
I have a lot of work to do for the business class.
I need to call my family today during the afternoon.

For Freedom, We Will Have To Give All

For this freedom to be closely tied
to the desire of the people
we will have to give all.

For this freedom of sunflower
which opens with the same rights and opportunities to everyone
and
closes with the repression of ideas.
We will have to give all.

 In this land that wakes
We will have to give all
There is no alternative but freedom.
There is no option better than freedom
No other country than freedom.

For this freedom which is the empire of youth,
for this freedom
beautiful as life
we will have to give all
if necessary until our shadow
and that will never be enough.

Same as humans, gods also sin. Don´t think that envy and revenge are just human behaviors because life on earth is just the reflection of the Gods will.  Despite the Olympus Gods having everything in heaven, they were always envying how mortals sinned without any remorse. For humans, every year represents a new opportunity to begin a new life; however, Olympus Gods were destined to exist for the whole eternity without the possibility of fulfilling a different mission in their immortal life.

Although people worshiped the Olympus Gods, humans were surprised how the Immortal envied how their lives are surrounded by sin and pleasures. For that reason, the Olympus Gods decided to show their supremacy to humans through the celebration of a carnaval where they would copy and overcome people behavior. Humans had to attend this celebration; otherwise, the revenge of the Gods would fall on all of them. To guarantee that the carnival would be magnificent certain other divine were invited. Dionisio the God of the wine, Aphrodite the goddess of love and desire, and Demeter the goddess of fertility.

Although humans were invited, they disregarded the invitation because they knew that the aim of the carnival was to show them immortals´ supremacy. Beside, mortals were exhausted worshiping the Immortals because they believed that God's supremacy on earth was a way to restrict humans senses, such as passion, desire, obsession and lust. Humans loved sin.  For that reason, they decide not to attend the Gods´ invitation as a proof of rebellion.

The day of the carnival every God was there, including all the Gods that would bring the representation of humans’ sins. Everything seemed that the event would be a success. However, there was an important detail that was absent in the celebration “humans”. Without the presence of humans there was nobody who could worship the Immortals. Without someone to worship them, they were also not Gods.

As a revenge for disobeying the Gods orders, they decided to reprimand the humans´ behavior with two big punishments. The first punishment was done by Poseidon, who created tsunamies, and the second one was done by Zeus, who punished humans with hurricanes. Although humans understood the Gods supremacy, they also realized that Gods them need to be Gods.

Climbing the Mountain

Please God don't remove the mountain because I haven't finished climbing. At the beginning of the year 2011, I had many expectations for the year because I knew that after many years I would move to a different country to learn English.

Finally, my girlfriend and I moved to Atlanta. Although we thought that living in the US would be an easy process and would the like a vacation, we were wrong because learning a second language is something that demands a lot of time and effort. Likely, the easier solution would be return to our country and give up our dream. However, we decided to struggle and continue with the process of learning English despite the difficulties that it represented for us.

All of this summed up in one word "perseverance". It is not the shocks or falling dawn that a make man fail. Rather it his unwillingness to get up and move on. Nowadays, I know that this is only the first step in a long path that probably will never finish because after climbing one´s first high mountain, a person usually discoves that there are many other mountains to climb.

Although I don't know when I will get to the first mountain top, I expect that at the end of 2012 we will be able to harvest the first fruits of all these efforts. Despite uncertainty, for me what is really important is that I will say that I never gave up.

Yellow Beach

Many years ago in Africa, there was a unique lion of his species because the color of his skin resembled a golden color. For this reason all hunters wished to seize the lion to have its skin in their collections. Despite the effort of all hunters to catch him, neither of them was able to grab him. The most famous hunter of Africa was obsessed about catching him, becoming the shadow of the lion, following him during the day and the night. However, whenever the hunter tried to trap the animal, he always escaped into the jungle. The longer he tried to catch the animal his obsession increased. The lion´s ability to camouflage himself avoid that hunters couldn´t track his movements.

One day, when the lion was walking on the beach, the hunter caught the animal in a cage, pointed at him with his gun, with the objective to kill the lion and take to his collection. Nonetheless, when he was ready to pull the trigger, the hunter realized that if he killed this animal his beauty would not be the same. At this moment, the skin of the lion began to shine, blinding the hunter´s eyes, and also whispering words to the hunter. The lion proposed to the hunter, that if he were allowed to continue living, he could visit the hunter every day of his life. Initially the hunter was skeptical of the lion´s proposal, but after seeing the animal one more time he accepted the offer made.

The next day, the hunter went to the same beach to watch the animal. However, he realized that the animal was not there. Nevertheless, he saw something different in the sand and the ocean. At that moment, he understood that the animal would not come any more because he had never gone. The gold color of the lion will always be in the gold color of the sand, and his power in the energy of the ocean.

A Colombian in Wonderful Wedding in India

I don’t remember the last time when I saw the cartoon “Aladdin and his Wonderful Lamp”. However, I remember that the genie could provide only three wishes to the lamp´s owner Aladdin. One of Aladdin's wishes was falling in love with the princess Jasmine. Although the genie couldn´t fulfill this desire with magic, he was able to assist the princess, love. As in almost all Disney movies, the end of the story has a perfect finale, with wonderful music, beautiful colors, and everybody happy, celebrating the wedding between the prince and the princess. This magical conclusion seems to only happen in Disney movies.

However, almost one year ago, I had to attend to a wedding in Mumbai, India, where the fiction of cartoons became reality. It was a wedding for almost 800 guests. I had never imagined that a wedding in India could be so spectacular. All the women were dressed in beautiful Sarees with their hands painted with black and red inks. The bride was dressed in one of the most beautiful striking dresses that I have ever seen. There were two main colors in the bride´s dress, yellow symbolizing the prosperity of the couple, and red representing fertility. The groom wore a turban with a veil of flowers streaming down in front of his face to protect him from evil spirits.

Besides the beautiful dresses and decorations, what was really amazing was the amount of symbolism used in Indian weddings. After the wedding, the groom's father threw flower petals on the newlyweds. Furthermore, one of the most awesome aspects of the wedding was the temple where the couple made promise to love each other for the rest of their lives. In this sanctuary love is everywhere. Decorated with white roses and a hundreds of lights, the shrine looked like the representation of heaven on earth.

I can say with confidence that any Colombian woman would like to have a Indian weeding, where the magic of Disney becomes a reality.
